One of the most common problems people have with embroidery is knits.
Many of your have experienced this scenario. You want to embroider that super cute onesie and you find the perfect design, even the size is right and you hoop it nice and tight and off you go. But, the final sew out might not live up to your expectations.
If you are an experienced embroiderer, you've likely solved this problem, but if you aren't, read on.
The problem with knits is that they can stretch in all directions. On a design with filled areas, the action of the machine can stretch the fabric slightly and then sew it in the distorted position. You might see gaps in the design, or puckers, or straight lines that just aren't very straight.
The trick to embroidery on knits is to keep the fabric from moving at all. I use either a tacky stabilizer or 505 temporary spray on my standard stabilizer. This prevents the fabric from being able to move during stitching and you'll get the results you want.
You can buy a can of 505 temporary adhesive on aAmazon or at your local fabric/craft store. It lasts forever.
